Frequently Asked Questions

1. What events do Rapture perform at?
Corporate events including company dinner dances, Christmas Parties, product launches and we are specialists at award presentation nights. We also perform at weddings, birthday parties and outdoor street festivals.

2. How many years have you been in business?
The first Rapture performance took place on 14th May 1994. Professional musicians were handpicked to piece a band together for a family wedding of the bandleader Jeremy.

3. Do I need to provide a meal for the band?
Yes, in most cases. The band has a hospitality rider which outlines our requirements here. Send us an email and we can forward a copy to you.

4. Does Rapture travel outside of Melbourne, Australia?
Yes. The band has performed in most states & territories of Australia as well as quite a few Asian countries including Singapore, Hong Kong and Papua New Guinea.  We also have performed in many towns in country Victoria. There are additional costs as you'd expect. These can include airfares, accommodation (minimum 4 star), ground transfers or simply just additional fees for travelling by road.

5. Does the band provide a PA?
Yes, when we are asked to. Sometimes, the client has already hired the services of an in-house production company from the venue to provide all audio, stage and lighting production.

We have our own production suppliers and engineers who we engage as part of our service to you.
When we quote you, we will clearly provide a cost associated with audio and lighting production. We can provide for small and large events.

6. How long does the band actually play for?
There are many variables within a function that can effect the bands performance times. Every function is different. Rapture wants to give you the best possible value for money. If meals are delayed or speeches and presentations go for longer than expected, this will shorten the time available for band performance. Rapture works very well with venue operators and co-operative ‘snap’ decisions can be made to maximize dance time.

As a general rule of thumb, we will perform dance sets of 35 – 45 minutes unless directed to stop for a formality or a dinner course. As a guide Rapture performs approximately 9 – 10 songs in a 40 minute set.

7. The venue does not have a stage, do I need to hire one?
That really depends on you. It is not an absolute requirement, however it is strongly recommended. It will present the band in the best light and will also add form and presentation to the room layout .

8. What line-ups do you offer?
Our base band is a 5 piece which includes 3 piece rhythm section of drums, bass, keyboards and 2 vocalists - Male & female. To this base band size we can add these in any combination:

3 piece horn section which includes saxophone, trumpet, trombone.
