Rapture has performed for hundreds of wedding clients over the last 14 years. The band has performed at most wedding reception venues and major hotels in Melbourne.

During the past 14 years, we have noticed that Rapture attracts a particular kind of wedding client. The brides and grooms who book us are those that tend to display these qualities and have these needs:

  • Want music that will cater to a wide age group, and perhaps even some jazz during dinner
  • Expect excellent customer service
  • Have tangible access to the band beforehand to arrange reception details (or even just to calm some last minute jitters)
  • Know that if you choose to spend more than the base budget, the results will always be a better sounding and better looking band.
  • Just want an awesome sounding band that knows what they are doing and look great.

Timing Your Reception

There are three main areas (other than the meal) that you need to consider when you format the running sheet for your wedding. They include:

Cutting Of The Cake

The time you choose to cut the cake can maximise your dance time. This could be early in the evening, or as part of the formalities to the opening dance. Alternatively, you can cut the cake after speeches.

Bridal Dance

When you choose the song for your bridal dance, you will need to decide if it will be played live by a band or provided on a CD. If you have a CD to play you should delegate someone to hand it to the band or venue. Professional Masters of Ceremonies generally ask and remind you of such things. Other questions to consider might include who will join you on the dance floor and at what point? i.e. Bridal party and parents. Will you have dry ice or a smoke machine for your bridal dance? Exploding balloons? Streamers? Doves?

MC/ Speeches

Traditionally, speeches are popular after the main meal. Alternatives are before the main meal as well as during dessert. Part of a professional MC's role is to work in alliance with the venue and resolve any potential issues which pose a threat to the smooth operation of the event. Co-ordination with the kitchen, band & photographers are essential for a wedding to run smoothly. The cost of a professional MC is an investment in peace of mind.
